Have I Really Seen It All?
Wandering through Stop & Shop in West Haven today, I saw that some enterprising toy company has finally manufactured and marketed the invisible friend.
The good news is that if you want one, "Best Friend Dora" can be had for $99.99 at Stop & Shop. The bad news is that in person, she's even creepier; there's something unsettling about the idea of a waking up on Christmas morning and finding a life-sized plastic girl standing under the tree. I've seen enough episodes of the Twilight Zone and enough Chucky movies to worry about those parents who will succumb to the pressure.
But isn't there something else to be concerned about here? Is it so hard to make friends these days that parents have to spend upwards of $100 for a battery-operated substitute?
